Daniel Beaty is the keynote speaker for the March Saturday Reunion. He is an award winning performer, writer, and community activist. His publications include the childrens book, KNOCK KNOCK, the motivational book, Transforming from Pain to Power, and the play Through the Night. He is also the creator of I Dream, a nationally recognized social justice initiative.
Renowned childrens book and YA author, Sarah Weeks, will be joining us for the closing keynote. Sarah is the author of several books including PIE, Oggie Cooder, Save Me a Seat, and So B. It, which was recently turned into a major motion picture.
This is a day when literacy educators from across the globe come together to learn. It is a fast-paced day, brimming with workshops that can help you find horizons to work towards, whether your focus is on higher level comprehension, content area literacy, units of study in writing, assessment-based instruction, increasing student engagement, or bringing books to life. In one short day you can stand on the shoulders of the profession. We offer keynotes and sessions led by renowned authors and leaders in the field of education, senior Project staff, including Lucy Calkins and all TCRWP staff developers.
The day begins at 9:00 a.m. at Riverside Church, one block west of Teachers College, and continues throughout the entire College.
The day is free of charge, without registration. It is a gift offered to the TCRWP community.
Parking:
The Rapid Park Garage, located beneath Riverside Church’s south wing entrance on 120th Street between Riverside Drive and Claremont Avenue, is $35 for all day parking (plus an additional fee for oversize vehicles).
